Construction sites can be defined as workplaces (temporary and/or mobile) where the designed works, new or modified, are carried out. For example, in public works, construction companies participate in tenders (properly called) to win the contract by proposing the best offer below the amount decided by the public administration, taking into account various technical-economic aspects.
The construction company that won the contract accesses the construction site through the delivery of a report called "handover of areas," which is a written report signed by both the project management and the legal representative of the company on site.
The most common professional figures on the construction site are: the Designer, the Works Director (D.L.), the Site Manager, the Site Assistant or Site Foreman, the Safety Coordinator during the Design phase, and the Safety Coordinator during the execution phase.
The Site Manager is one of the main figures who takes care of all the technical and accounting aspects, in order to execute the work to perfection, according to the current regulations in this regard, while the site technical assistant must know the regulations, the methods of procurement and resource management, as well as the procedures for waste disposal, and have knowledge of construction technology and techniques in this regard.
On a construction site, depending on the size, there may be one or more companies, called subcontractors, that have direct contracts with the contracting company to which work is entrusted on a cost-plus or piecework basis. (excerpt from the book "Site Tracking")
